UNC Charlotte and Honeywell are united by a shared commitment to building a smarter, safer, and more sustainable future. This groundbreaking partnership is an investment in our community and the next generation of talent, strengthening the region’s workforce. The Honeywell Innovation Hub will transform UNC Charlotte’s Burson Hall into a 155,000-square-foot complex for applied research and hands-on learning, with an expected opening in 2027. Take a virtual fly-through to see what the building will look like when completed.
This collaboration will also reduce financial barriers and provide students with the experience and confidence needed to succeed in a competitive job market. The partnership includes the Honeywell Scholars program, which will award 48 scholarships to high-achieving STEM students over the next decade. Additionally, students will connect with real-world engineers on annual senior capstone projects to solve challenges for Honeywell and its customers. The Innovation Hub will feature project-based engineering labs, active learning classrooms, and specialized research and simulation spaces, advancing applied research in areas such as artificial intelligence and grid resilience. The partnership will also support critical research projects and establish four distinguished faculty endowments in the William States Lee College of Engineering and the College of Computing and Informatics.
